help to them. By placing groups of these different kinds of units
along the more important lines of communication leading from each
major front, the Red Cross hones to apply its aid in the most
effective manner possible.
Supply Denots and Transport Convoys are distributed along
these same lines, serving the units, receiving stations and
hospitals. Supplies are distributed to many military and civil
war-time medical organizations besides the Red Cross units.
Similarly, transportation is from time to time provided for other
medical organizations than the Red Cross. An important service rendered by Red Cross transportation is the bringing of medical
supplies from the port of entry to the interior and different
fronts.
In addition to serving wounded soldiers in army establish- ments, the Red Cross has also organized Preventive Units which
work chiefly among refugees, but also help in the work of epidemio prevention among various sections of the population and the army
camps in their vicinity.
Lastly, all Red Cross units are instructed and prepared
to render first aid to victims of air raids. In most cities where
Red Cross units are stationed, special dressing stations and
temporary hospitalization have been organized for the care of
air-raid casualties.
